COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Three members of the Texas A&M softball team were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team, the conference announced Thursday. Sophomore Meagan May, junior Kelsea Orsak and redshirt junior Lindsey Sisk were all named to the second team.

May, a general studies major, is from Spring, Texas, and Sisk is a university studies major from Murrieta, Calif. This is a first-time honor for both Aggies. Orsak is a marketing major from Pearland, Texas, and was also named to the second team in 2010.

The conference named 61 student-athletes to the Academic All-Big 12 team. The 47 first-team selections have kept up a 3.20 or better GPA, while the 14 second-team members have maintained a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. Honorees are nominated by their director of student-athlete support services and media relations office.

To qualify position players must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests, while pitchers are required to have at least one inning pitched per game played by the team or have appeared in 20 percent of their team's total games. Freshmen and transfers in their first year of academic residence are ineligible for the award. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The 18th-ranked Aggies host Texas Tech this weekend in the final two games of the regular season. The two-game conference series will consist of a 6 p.m. game Friday and a noon contest on Saturday. For more information on Texas A&M softball, log on to
