Completed: Spring 2003 | Size: 4,500 sq ft
The 4,500-square foot Olympic Sports Athletic Training Room services Texas A&M's large contingent of student athletes situated on the University's west campus.
Located across the street from Olsen Field and directly adjacent to the softball, track and soccer venues, the facility gives Aggie athletics one of the most complete athletic training facilities in the country. It was completed in the spring of 2003 as part of the west campus complex that also contains buildings for track, soccer and softball.
The Olympic Sports Athletic Training Room contains a spacious treatment center that features 16 treatment tables, 10 electrical modality units (electrical stim and ultrasound) and four taping tables. A laser used for laser therapy is also contained in the facility, making A&M one of only a handful of universities in the country that possesses one.
In a room at the rear of the building are three whirlpools to provide further therapy options to the athletic training staff. The room contains two 15-person whirlpools, one "hot" and one "cold", along with a third standard whirlpool.
The front of the building houses offices and examination rooms for the five general practitioners and three orthopedic surgeons that work with the Aggie athletic programs, as well as a Flouroscan machine.
Offices for the full-time athletic training staff members that work with the sports situated on west campus are just off the main floor of the athletic training room. Student athletic trainers share an office off of the main floor as well. Both full-time athletic trainers and student athletic trainers have locker room facilities to utilize before and after athletic events.
Rounding out the amenities are restrooms, a storage area and a garage that is used to store coolers, golf carts, an ice machine and other equipment.
