EUGENE – Texas A&M’s Shamier Little earned a second gold medal during the IAAF World Junior Championships as a member of the United States winning 4x400 relay team on Sunday. Little ran the opening leg of the relay as the Americans claimed victory in 3 minutes, 30.42 seconds.

Incoming Aggie freshman Ioánnis Kiriazis finished seventh in the men’s javelin on the final day of the World Junior Championships, held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus. Kiriazis produced his best mark on the first throw, which measured 230-11 (70.38).

After winning the 400 hurdles on Saturday, Little ran in the final of the 4x400 relay as the Americans won the event for the seventh consecutive time at the World Juniors. Little made the first exchange of the baton on the opening leg and the US squad never trailed in the race.

“I had a good start, my goal was to get the team off to a good lead so we wouldn’t have much trouble later in the race,” noted Little.

The winning time 3:30.42 is the world junior leading mark this season and placed the United States ahead of Great Britain’s 3:32.00 and a 3:33.02 from Germany while Canada clocked 3:33.17 for fourth place.
