Larson, a senior from Mesa, Arizona, joins her Aggie teammates Cammile Adams and Sarah Henry, who had previously committed to participation in the prestigious event. The U.S. team will be comprised of the swimmers who posted the top qualifying time in each Olympic event at the 2013 FINA World Championships, 2013 World University Games or 2013 U.S. Open.
Larson is the two-time defending NCAA Champion in the 100-yard breaststroke, and she’s also won the last two 100 breaststroke national championships at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and the 2013 U.S. World Championships Qualifier. At the World Championships Qualifier, Larson also won the 200-meter breaststroke and was second in the 50 breast.
Larson has also been solid at the international level with three Championship final appearances and two relay gold medals. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Larson placed sixth in the 100-meter breaststroke and swam in the prelims for the winning 400 medley relay. At the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain, Larson was fourth in the 50 breaststroke, fifth in the 100 breast and reached the semifinals at the 200-meter distance. She again helped Team USA to a 400 medley relay win with a swim in the prelims.
