IRVINE, Calif. --- Texas A&M junior Sarah Henry received the Female High Point Scorer award after scoring an impressive 79 points in five events at the 2013 U.S. Open Championships.
Henry, from Garner, N.C., was the only swimmer in the meet to reach the Championship final in five events, and she placed in the top five in all five races. Prior to Saturday’s action, Henry was second in the 200- and 800-meter freestyle, third in the 400 IM and fourth in the 400 free. On Saturday, she placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.39.
“It’s a huge honor to win the high point award,” said Henry, who was named the Aggies’ 2012-13 Team MVP. “I swam a load of events and was really happy with how I did. I just came off the World University Games, which was a seven-day meet in Russia, and to do this well a week later was a huge feat for me. All in all, it has been a great summer, and I’m excited for what the fall brings.”
In other action involving Aggies on Saturday, senior Kyle Troskot placed fourth in the consolation final of the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 22.95.
