Medrano, Dittmer Win at Mexican Nationals

MONTERREY, Mexico --- Texas A&M swimmers Rita Medrano and Erica Dittmer have posted gold medal finishes at the Mexican Olympic Trials, which runs May 1-May 8 in Monterrey, Mexico.

Medrano, who finished her senior season earlier this spring, has already won a pair of races with a sweep of the 100- and 200-meter butterfly. Medrano, a four-time All-American for the Aggies, won the 100 fly in 1:00.19 and the 200 fly in 2:11.10.

Dittmer, who will be a junior in 2012-13, broke the Mexican record by over a second while winning the 200 IM in a time of 2:16.39. Dittmer also grabbed a runner-up finish in the 200-meter breaststroke with a lifetime best time of 2:31.86.
