Texas A&M swimmers and divers continued their strong summers of competition at the FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China and the Canadian Summer Nationals in Montreal.

At the FINA Worlds, which continues through July 31, sophomore Lili Ibanez (representing Mexico) placed 34th in the 200 freestyle in 2:01.70; senior Rita Medrano (Mexico) took 35th in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.55; senior Amini Fonua (Tonga) placed 25th in the 50 breaststroke (28.23) and 59th in the 100 breast (1:04.02); and senior Grant Nel (Australia) placed 27th in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 383.95.

Among the former A&M standouts at Worlds, 2009 senior Julia Wilkinson (Canada) placed eighth in the 200 IM (2:16.18) and 13th in the 100 back (1:00.35); 2008 senior Triin Aljand (Estonia) took 26th in the 100 fly in 59.78; and 2009 senior Eric Sehn (Canada) placed 18th in platform diving with a score of 388.15. With her Canadian teammates, Wilkinson took seventh place in the 400 free relay in a time of 3:38.42.

At the Canadian Summer Nationals and the Nation's Cup, sophomore Paige Miller was second in the 50 back (28.92), sixth in the 100 back (1:02.80), fourth in the 50 fly (27.36) and tied for sixth in the 100 fly (1:01.00); junior Tess Simpson placed third in the 50 back (29.26), fifth in the 100 back (1:02.79) and 10th in the 200 back (2:17.70); junior Kendra Chernoff took seventh in the 50 fly (27.56), tied for sixth in the 100 fly (1:01.00) and placed 11th in the 200 fly (2:16.20); and sophomore Kyle Troskot placed fourth in 50 free (23.19), 16th in the 100 (52.05), 21st in the 50 fly (C final champion, 25.47), and 18th in the 100 fly (56.63).

2010 senior Melanie Dodds placed third in the 200 IM (2:17.10) and 400 IM (4:48.73), fifth in the 200 fly (2:15.68), and eighth in the 200 breast (2:37.86) at Summer Nats, and then opened with a win in the 200 IM in 2:18.88 at the Nation's Cup.
