AUSTIN --- Texas A&M junior Lorena Lujan earned her first trip to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships by finishing in the top five in the three-meter dive on the first day of the Zone D Diving Championships on Friday at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Lujan, from San Antonio, Texas, is the Aggies' 16th qualifier to the national meet, joining her 15 swimming teammates. A&M led the nation in swimming qualifiers.

Lujan finished fourth with a 12-dive score of 644.05 behind Lacey Truelove of Houston (730.55), Kelci Bryant of Minnesota (716.10) and Veronica Rydze of Iowa (644.05). Also qualifying for nationals as the fifth place finisher was Margaret Keefer of Minnesota (629.70).

Lujan's teammates Janie Potvin and Jo Thibodaux will have to continue their quests for a NCAA berth in the one-meter springboard on Saturday. Potvin was eighth with 618.20 points and Thibodaux was 41st with a score of 181.30.
