COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M seniors Shea Groom and Meghan Streight were tabbed to the 35-player preseason watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer.

Texas A&M is one of six schools to have multiple players named to the watch list along with Florida, Stanford, Texas Tech, UCLA and Virginia.

Last season, Groom was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's Soccer All-America Third Team. The Liberty, Mo.-native was also named to the NSCAA All-South Region First Team as a midfielder one year after earning the honor as a forward in 2012.

As a junior, Groom led the Aggies with 35 points on 14 goals and seven assists. She earned All-SEC First Team status and was named to the All-Tournament Team as A&M won its first-ever SEC Tournament title in November. In the Aggies’ 3-1 win over UMass in September, Groom logged A&M’s first hat trick since the 2011 season.

For her career, Groom has 68 points on 25 goals and 18 assists. Her freshman season was shortened by injury, limiting her to 10 games, but she posted 16 points on six goals and four assists in her abbreviated campaign. As a sophomore, she played in all 25 games, logging 17 points on five goals and seven assists.

Groom became the 13th player in Aggie history to land on an NSCAA All-America squad and it marked the 16th time an A&M player was honored as an NSCAA All-American. The Aggies have had players named to the NSCAA All-America team and the former Soccer Buzz All-America squad on 27 occasions.

Streight was an NSCAA All-South Region First Team selection and earned NSCAA Scholar All-America recognition as a junior. She earned NSCAA/Continental Tire All-America Third Team recognition as a midfielder as a junior along with NSCAA All-South Region First Team status in 2012 and was named to the NSCAA All-Central Region squad in 2011.

In 2013, the McKinney, Texas-product tallied six points on the season, including two goals. She helped the squad post eight shutouts and register a 0.98 goals-against average. As a junior, she repeated as a member of both the All-SEC First Team and the SEC All-Tournament Team.

Streight has started all 74 contests during her career in College Station. She has 27 points in her career with nine goals and nine assists.

The list was compiled by the NSCAA Women’s Division I All-America Committee, based on their analysis of returning All-America and All-Region players, as well as any prominent newcomers.

Near the end of the regular-season, NCAA Division I coaches that are NSCAA members will vote on their top choices and the lists will be narrowed down to the top 15 semifinalists. From the pool, three finalists will be selected with the winners announced in January.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
