COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies wrap up the spring slate on Thursday when they host the Houston Aces at Ellis Field. There will be no admission fee for the match which is slated to start at 8 pm.
Thursday marks the fifth and final day of competition for the Aggies who opened up with a 4-0 win over Houston Aces South Select on March 19 in College Station. Kelley Monogue logged two goals and Bianca Brinson and Haley Pounds each tallied scores in the victory.
A&M dropped a pair of narrow decisions to the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League, 1-0 in Houston and 3-1 in College Station.
In their last day of competition the Aggies swept a pair of shortened matches against Rice (3-2) and LSU (2-0) in Houston. The day featured two goals by Karlie Mueller and one apiece by Brinson, Pounds and Sarah Shaw.
Against collegiate competition, the Aces have wins over Houston Baptist (2-0), Houston (3-0) and Lamar (5-1) this spring. The Aces a match against the Houston Dash in early April. Last season the Houston Aces won the Women’s Premier Soccer League Big Sky South Division with a 12-1-0 record.
The Maroon and White finished the 2013 season ranked No. 8 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll. A&M posted an 18-5-2 record for the year, claimed their first-ever SEC regular-season title with a 9-2-0 league ledger and captured an SEC Tournament crown. The Aggies appeared in their 19th consecutive NCAA Division I Championship, advanced to the Second Round for the 16th consecutive year and appeared in the Sweet 16 for the 12th time in program history.
