COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies welcome top-tier professional side Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) to Ellis Field for an exhibition match on Wednesday evening. There will be no admission fee for the match which is slated to start at 8 pm.
The Aggies and Dash played in a match on March 22 at Houston Amateur Sports Park with the pros squeaking by, 1-0.
The Dash are coming off a 7-0 bludgeoning of Texas Tech last Saturday and previously registered a 4-0 shellacking of Rice on March 19.
Wednesday marks the third match of the spring for the Aggies who opened up with a 4-0 win over Houston Aces South Select on March 19 in College Station. Kelley Monogue logged two goals and Bianca Brinson and Haley Pounds each tallied scores in the victory.
The Houston Dash are the newest member of the NWSL, awarded to the Houston Dynamo ownership group on December 11, 2013. The Dash are gearing up for their inaugural campaign which begins on April 12.
Houston is coached by former University of Tulsa, Baylor University and University of Notre Dame head coach Randy Waldrum. Waldrum won two national titles at Notre Dame.
The Maroon and White finished the 2013 season ranked No. 8 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll. A&M posted an 18-5-2 record for the year, claimed their first-ever SEC regular-season title with a 9-2-0 league ledger and captured an SEC Tournament crown. The Aggies appeared in their 19th consecutive NCAA Division I Championship, advanced to the Second Round for the 16th consecutive year and appeared in the Sweet 16 for the 12th time in program history.
