Aggies Travel to Houston for a Clash with the Dash

COLLEGE STATION, Texas The Texas A&M Aggies will face newly minted professional side Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in an exhibition match Saturday morning in Houston.

The Aggies and Dash will play a 10 am fixture at the Houston Amateur Sports Park, located off Highway 288, approximately 10 miles south of the Dash’s downtown Houston stadium. The contest will be free to spectators. Fans are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs as Houston Sports Park lacks permanent seating.

Texas A&M is coming off a 4-0 win over Houston Aces South Select on Wednesday evening in College Station. Kelley Monogue logged two goals and Bianca Brinson and Haley Pounds each tallied scores in the victory.

The Houston Dash are the newest member of the NWSL, awarded to the Houston Dynamo on December 11, 2013. The Dash are gearing up for their inaugural campaign which begins on April 12.

Houston is coached by former University of Tulsa, Baylor University and University of Notre Dame head coach Randy Waldrum. Waldrum won two national titles at Notre Dame.

On Wednesday, the Houston Dash toppled the Rice Owls, 4-0 in an exhibition match.

The Maroon and White finished the 2013 season ranked No. 8 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll. A&M posted an 18-5-2 record for the year, claimed their first-ever SEC regular-season title with a 9-2-0 league ledger and captured an SEC Tournament crown. The Aggies appeared in their 19th consecutive NCAA Division I Championship, advanced to the Second Round for the 16th consecutive year and appeared in the Sweet 16 for the 12th time in program history.
