COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 12 Texas A&M Aggies will play their annual Maroon & White Match Saturday at 7:30 pm at Ellis Field.
The intrasquad scrimmage is FREE to the public. The match will be the team's first showing in front of a home crowd this season.
Fans are encouraged to attend for their first glimpse at the 2013 team, which includes 14 returning letterwinners and seven returning starters from the 2012 SEC Western Division Championship team.
The Aggies were picked to finish first in the SEC Western Division and win the overall league title in the SEC Coaches Poll. Texas A&M had four players named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100, including M/D Meghan Streight (No. 32), F Annie Kunz (No. 33), GK Jordan Day (No. 63) and D Rachel Lenz (No. 68).
In Texas A&M’s second season in the Southeastern Conference, six freshmen will join the mix, as well as Aggie Tennis standout Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar. The A&M soccer class of 2017 consists of Ana Cruz (San Diego, Calif.), Ashlynn Harryman (Dana Point, Calif.), Liz Keester (Tulsa, Okla.), Taylor Saucier (Omaha, Neb.), Sarah Shaw (Keller, Texas) and Grace Wright (College Station, Texas).
A&M has already played to a 0-0 draw in an exhibition match at UC Irvine last Wednesday. The Aggies open up the 2013 regular-season on Friday, Aug. 23 when A&M hosts No. 7 Duke in a 7:30 pm contest at Ellis Field.
