FARMERS BRANCH, Texas - Freshman Katie Perry netted the lone goal as the Texas A&M soccer team took a 1-0 shutout victory over North Texas at the Ross Stewart Soccer Complex on Saturday.
The Aggies remain undefeated this spring after playing three games. Perry has contributed a goal in each of the three matches.
Perry's goal came in the second half on assists from juniors Lyndsey Gnatzig and Chelsea Jones. Gnatzig took the ball on the left flank and slotted a pass to Jones near the top of the 18-yard box. Jones turned and slipped the ball to Perry, who fired from the center of the pitch at 18 yards from goal and sunk the ball into the back of the netting.
The Aggies had an 11-to-4 shots advantage over the Mean Green and also led in shots on frame, 6-to-4. UNT took five corner kicks over the Aggies' four, while both sides grabbed four saves. Freshman Jordan Day spent all 90 minutes in goal for A&M.
The Aggies return home for their final two matches of the exhibition season. A&M will host Big 12 foe Baylor this coming Saturday at 7 p.m. at Ellis Field. A Saturday, April 14, match against Southern Methodist at Ellis Field will round out the 2012 spring season. Both matches are FREE.
