COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer junior Beth West was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week, the publication announced today.
West (Centennial, Colo.) assisted two goals off of set pieces as the No. 3-seeded Aggies knocked LSU out of the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 victory at Ellis Field on Friday. West's corner kicks were less-than two minutes apart and came from opposite ends of the pitch as senior Bri Young and freshman Meghan Streight headed them into the back of the net.
West has started in the midfield in the last nine matches for A&M, notching 13 assists on the season. Her two assists Friday tied the junior's season game high, as she also assisted a pair of goals against McNeese State and Iowa State.
This is West's first weekly honor this season. The midfielder has also been selected to the All-Big 12 first team and the Academic All-Big 12 first team in 2011.
The No. 3-seeded and 12th-ranked Aggies travel to Charlottesville, Va. this weekend to face Virginia Tech in the NCAA Second Round. The match is set for a 3 p.m. CST kickoff and will be featured on AggieAthletics.com and 95.1-3 The Zone HD. The winner of that game will play the winner of the No. 2 Virginia-Washington State game at noon (CST) on Sunday. To learn more about Texas A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
