COLLEGE STATION, Texas -

The Big 12 Champion Texas A&M soccer team held its annual awards banquet Saturday at The Zone Club at Kyle Field.

The event honors athletes and staff each year in several athletic and academic areas. Awards include recognition from various soccer media organizations and other outlets apart from Texas A&M University.

The awards presented at the banquet ranged from position MVPs, who contributed to the team’s success on the field, to those accolades which highlighted the athlete who most exemplified the spirit of Aggieland.

“Now that the A&M academic year is starting to wind down, this Saturday night was a great opportunity to look back on another championship soccer season and celebrate the players, especially the graduating seniors, who have represented Aggieland so well,” head coach G Guerrieri said. “This is also the night where we announce special player awards that are voted upon by the players, and the unveiling of our highlight film from the 2010 Big 12 Championship season.  It’s a fun night and one that I look forward to each season.”

In 2010, A&M won the program’s 11th Big 12 Championship in the regular season and played in its 16th consecutive NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round before falling to host Minnesota, 2-0. The Aggies finished the season ranked 16th in the nation with a 15-5-3 record.
