COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M soccer freshman Kelley Monogue was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman first team, the publication announced today.
Monogue (McKinney, Texas) had an impressive start to her college career this season. For her efforts on the field the forward was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, a feat only achieved one other time in history. Monogue also took the title of Big 12 Tournament Offensive MVP and was named to the All-Big 12 First Team, the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and the All-Big 12 Tournament Team. She took first-team NCAA All-Central Region honors, on top of a pile of weekly accolades.
Monogue led the team and the conference offensively with 47 points on 19 goals and nine assists. She ranked fifth nationally in total points, sixth in total goals, 12th in goals per game and 13th in points per game, helping the Aggies to the No. 1 national offense and the most goals (76) in the nation in 2011.
The Aggies ended the season with a No. 21 national ranking (NSCAA) and a No. 12 RPI ranking after winning their 12th Big 12 Championship and taking a 17th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. To learn more about Texas A&M soccer, log on to AggieAthletics.com.
