FORT WORTH, Texas --- Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel reeled in his fourth national honor of the day after being named Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week Monday for his record-setting performance against the top-ranked Alabama Crimson last Saturday.

Manziel, a sophomore from Kerrville, Texas, was the 2012 winner of the Davey O’Brien Award, which is presented to the nation’s top collegiate quarterback. He directed the Aggies to 42 points and 628 total yards in A&M’s 49-42 loss to the top-ranked Crimson Tide. It was the most points scored against the Tide during the Nick Saban era, and it was the most yards ever allowed by Alabama in program history.

Manziel finished the game with a school-record 464 passing yards, breaking his own A&M record of 453 set against Arkansas last year. He generated 562 total yards (464 passing and 98 rushing), which is the second-highest total in school and Southeastern Conference history behind Manziel’s 576-yard effort against Louisiana Tech last year.

Fans are invited to cast their vote for the Davey O’Brien Award as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org. The Fan Vote counts as five percent during each round of the voting process, and is combined with the results from the Davey O'Brien National Selection Committee, which is comprised of journalists, broadcasters, commentators and former winners. The 2013 Davey O'Brien Winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards airing Dec. 12 on ESPN and will be honored at the 37th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner on Feb. 16-17, 2014 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Manziel was also named the National Offensive Player of the Week by the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, a Manning Award Star of the Week and to the weekly honor roll for the Paul Hornung Award.

College football fans can now go to the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 11 a.m. (Central), the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Player of the Week.
