Veteran backup had five tackles in nine game of action ... recovered a fumble against Lamar.

2013 (JUNIOR)

Started in four of eight games played … had 44 tackles on the year, including 24 solo stops … recorded a career-high 11 tackles against No. 1 Alabama (Sept. 14) … had the first interception of his career, an 18-yard play, against Rice (Aug. 31) … had a tackle for loss against Missouri (Nov. 30) … earned conference starts against Alabama and Missouri ... named to the 2013 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2012 (SOPHOMORE)

Saw action against Oklahoma in the AT&T Cotton Bowl ... entered the game off the bench and broke up a pass from QB Landry Jones.

2011 (FRESHMAN)

Saw action in seven games … made two tackles … solid contributor on kick coverage units.

Coached by Warren Trahan at Dickinson High School ... was a first-team all-district quarterback for the Gators as a senior (2009), throwing for over 1,500 yards and nine touchdowns ... also ran for 934 yards and 13 TDs ... chose Texas A&M over Houston.

Clay Honeycutt is the son of Lynn and Lori Honeycutt of Dickinson, Texas … born March 12, 1992 ... enrolled early at A&M in January of 2010 and went through spring drills with the Aggies ... father, Lynn, was a two-year letterwinner for the Aggies at defensive back (1978-79), who joined coach Emory Bellard’s team in ‘78 as a JUCO transfer from Henderson County JC ... high school coach, Warren Trahan, was a two-year starter at defensive tackle for Bellard and A&M (1973-74) ... health major.
