COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M incoming freshman Maddie Szeryk captured the 2014 Thunderbird International Junior title after a two-hole playoff on the Raptor Course at Grayhawk Golf Club Monday afternoon. The Allen, Texas, native carded a three-over par 75 Monday for a tournament total two-under par 214.

The invitational victory came less than a month after Szeryk captured the individual title at the Texas UIL 5A Individual Championship and helped Allen High School claim the team title at the Onion Creek Country Club in Austin.

Szeryk and Andrea Lee of Hermosa Beach, California, both finished the tournament at two-under par resulting in a playoff. They both parred the first playoff hole, No. 10. Szeryk’s approach shot on the second playoff hole reached the green to set up the winning birdie putt, marking her fourth career AJGA title and first Invitational win.

Szeryk’s future teammates are fresh off a top-10 finish at the NCAA Championships at the Tulsa Country Club. Freshman Marijosse Navarro tied for sixth individually to match the highest individual finish by an Aggie.
