NORMAN, OK – The Aggie women’s golf team will travel to Oklahoma to face the talented field beginning Saturday at the Schooner Fall Classic, hosted by Oklahoma University at the Belmar Golf Club.
“We have had a great couple weeks of practice and qualifying leading up to this tournament,” head coach Trelle McCombs said. “The team has been focusing on play around the green spending extra time putting and chipping.”
Joining A&M in the field will be four teams currently ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings including host-Oklahoma (fourth), Pepperdine (sixth), Oklahoma State (seventh) and Arizona State (eighth). Completing the field will be Denver, Florida State, Kent State, LSU, SMU, TCU, Texas State, Texas Tech, Georgia and Kentucky.
The Aggie lineup will consist of Katerina Ruzickova (Sr.), Chelsea Mocio (Sr.), Andrea Jonama (Fr.), Bianca Fabrizio (Fr.) and Natalie Reeves (Sr.). The maroon and white will play 18 holes each day Saturday through Monday on the par-70 6,082 yard course.
“Natalie really impressed this week in qualifying and I am excited to see it transfer over to a competition setting,” McCombs said. “The freshman will continue to get tournament experience and the seniors will lead by example out on the course.”
Round one of the tournament starts Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (CT) with the Aggies starting from hole 10 at 9:10 a.m. paired with Pepperdine and LSU.
