COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M women’s golf head coach Trelle McCombs announced Thursday the signing of Andrea Jonama to a National Letter of Intent.

“Andrea will add a world of experience to our team next year,” McCombs said. “She brings passion and energy like many players from her country and I look forward to coaching her.”

Jonama, of Barcelona, Spain,  currently ranks No. 176 in the World Golf Rankings and seventh in Spain. The Spanish youth had an impressive 2012 campaign winning titles at the Belgian International Under-18 Championship, Catalonian Junior Championship and Barcelona Girls Championship. Additionally, Jonama finished second at the Dutch Junior Open and Spanish International Stroke Play Championship in 2012.

Earlier this year Jonama captured yet another title at the 2013 Catalunya Junior Championship at the Montanya Golf Club in Barcelona.

“When I came to visit the University I loved it and knew I had to go there,” Jonama said. “I really enjoyed my future teammates, the coaches and the academics at Texas A&M. I spoke with Adria Arnaus on the men’s golf team and he told me great things about the University and told me that Coach McCombs and the team are one big family and that is important to me.”

Jonama joins early signees Bianca Fabrizio and Thanya Pattamakijsakul in the 2013 signing class. The trio will join seven returners to form the 2013-14 women’s golf rosters following the departure of four seniors from this year’s squad.

“I am proud of the recruiting class we have put together,” McCombs added. “These three will blend in well with the group we have returning and are looking to contribute beginning with their first day on campus, I cannot wait to get started working with them.”

The 2013 Aggies have completed their regular season play and are awaiting selection for NCAA Regional play, the announcement is set for Monday, April 29, at 8:00 p.m. (CT).
