COLLEGE STATION, Texas -Texas A&M junior Katerina Ruzickova has been named one of the Top 50 Female Players to Watch in the 2012-13 College Preview, released by Golf World.
From Ostrava, Czech Republic, Ruzickova became the first Aggie to medal at an NCAA Regional last season and finished 2011-12 ranked 31st by Golfweek and 30th by Golfstat.
In her first year with the Aggies, Ruzickova made the Golfweek All-America Freshman team and Golfweek All-America honorable mention. Her success continued her sophomore year as she made the National Golf Coaches Association All-America second team and received honorable mention All-America by Golfweek.
Ruzickova was also honored as a member of the 2012 All-Big 12 and Big 12 All-Tournament teams during which she led the Aggies with a sophomore record stroke average of 73.48, nine top 25 finishes and six top 10 finishes.
After finishing 13th at the NCAA Championship, she became the only Aggie with back-to-back top 15 finishes at nationals. Her final score of 292 (73-72-74-73) marked the second-lowest in A&M program history and led Texas A&M to a top 20 finish. The lowest score at nationals was set by Ruzickova the previous year when she carded a 288 (73-72-73-70).
Ruzickova and the Aggies begin their 2012-13 season on Friday, Sept. 21-23, at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate in Franklin, Tenn. There, A&M will get another shot at the Vanderbilt Legends Club where the 2012 NCAA Championship was held last spring.
