Grunden Advances to Quarterfinals at TRANS Amateur Championship

ELGIN, S.C. - Texas A&M women's golfer Susy Grunden advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2012 Women's Trans National Golf Association Amateur Championship at The Members Club at Woodcreek this week.

From Krum, Texas, Grunden finished tied for 26th with an 8-over 152 (75-77) after two qualifying rounds on Monday and Tuesday, which made her eligible for match play that began Wednesday.

In match play, Grunden defeated Morgan Thompson and Kelli Murphy, 3 and 2, and followed in the round of 16 by defeating Shu-Yin Liu, 2 up. In quarterfinal action, however, Grunden fell to Breanna Elliott, 2 and 1. Semifinal action finishes Friday and the finals of the 2012 TRANS Amateur Championship conclude on Saturday.
