INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 11 Texas A&M women's golf team was selected to the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Golf East Regional where it will compete for a berth in the NCAA Championship, the NCAA announced on Monday.

Regional play will be conducted May 10-12 at three sites. The East Regional will be played at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa., the Central Regional at the Ohio State Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, and the West Regional at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.

The top eight teams and two individuals advance from each regional to the NCAA Championship which is held May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., and is hosted by Vanderbilt University.

"We are very excited about the East selection," A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. "It's a great regional to be in. I have not seen the golf course, but we will prepare the very best that we can for any type of conditions."

The Aggies were one of 24 teams sent to the East Regional and were seeded fourth behind No. 2 Alabama, No. 5 Arizona State and No. 8 Duke. The rest of the field includes No. 14 Florida, No. 17 Arizona, No. 19 Oklahoma State, No. 24 South Carolina, No. 25 Michigan State, Washington, Texas, Tulane, UCF, Wake Forest, Northwestern, San Diego State, Kent State, Maryland, Augusta State, Campbell, Chattanooga, Oral Roberts, Jacksonville State and LIU Brooklyn.

Texas A&M makes its 12th straight NCAA Regional appearance and have advanced to the NCAA Championship three of the last four years, including the each of the past two seasons. The Aggies were last sent east in 2007 and make just their third trip to that regional.
