NSCAA Preseason Poll

COLLEGE STATION, Texas –
The Texas A&M Aggies were selected No. 9 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Preseason Ranking, the NSCAA announced on Wednesday.

Texas A&M polled second among SEC schools, trailing only No. 8 Florida. The Aggies are the top-ranked team from the Lone Star State, placing ahead of No. 17 Texas Tech.

Defending national champion UCLA was picked first followed by Florida State, Virginia, North Carolina and Virginia Tech in the top five. The Aggies travel to UCLA for an exhibition match on August 15.

Texas A&M returns 18 letterwinners, including 10 starters, from the 2013 campaign and returnees account for 54 of the Aggies’ 56 goals last season. The list of returnees includes a pair of former NSCAA All-Americans in Meghan Streight (2012) and Shea Groom (2013), as well as All-SEC performers Jordan Day, Leigh Edwards, Annie Kunz and Kelley Monogue.

The Aggies finished the 2013 season ranked No. 8 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll. A&M posted an 18-5-2 record for the year, claimed their first-ever SEC regular-season title with a 9-2-0 league ledger and captured an SEC Tournament crown. The Maroon and White appeared in their 19th consecutive NCAA Division I Championship, advanced to the Second Round for the 16th consecutive year and appeared in the Sweet 16 for the 12th time in program history.
