COLLEGE STATION- Texas A&M women’s basketball announced the return of Elementary School Game for a second straight year, to be held on December 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. against an NCAA Tournament team from 2014, Northwestern (La.) State. The first edition of Elementary School Day drew 7,188 fans, which included around 4,000 students from local elementary schools.

“Whenever you have a chance to do something for young people and the local communities, I think it is a win-win situation,” said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair. “This is a great educational field trip for these young kids to see these ladies play collegiate basketball at a high level.”

“Last year, both the kids and our regular fans loved it because of the excitement in the building. This year we hope to have even more kids in the building for what should be a great ballgame against Northwestern State,” added Blair.

The 2013 edition of Elementary School Day drew the second-largest crowd for a non-conference women’s basketball game in Reed Arena history, as Texas A&M knocked off Nicholls 73-39. The game was one of four games that drew 7,000+ fans to Reed Arena in 2013-14, which matched the school record.

Local schoolchildren will be invited to take a field trip to Reed Arena to watch the Aggies take on the 2014 Southland Conference Tournament Champions, with tip time during the day to accommodate the elementary students.

Texas A&M and Northwestern State met in the 1995 NWIT Finals, a 85-81 victory for the Aggies in Amarillo to capture the NWIT Championship. Overall, A&M and Northwestern State have met six times on the hardwood, with A&M holding a 4-2 advantage in the series with the last meeting coming in 2004-05.

The Lady Demons return four starters from a team that went 21-13, and played in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament in 2014. The Aggies return four starters from a 27-9 squad that reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.
