Three former Texas A&M standouts are on WNBA rosters for tonight’s opening games, with Danielle Adams (San Antonio), Kelsey Bone (Connecticut) and Sydney Carter (Indiana) all returning to WNBA rosters in 2014.
Adams returns to for her fourth season with the San Antonio Stars after averaging 14.4 points in 2013. Adams, who was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2011 Women’s Final Four, will look for her second WNBA All-Star Appearance this season, previously selected for the team in 2011. The Stars’ season tips at 6:30 p.m. at Atlanta.
Bone, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, averaged 6.9 points and was a WNBA All-Rookie selection in 2013 for New York, but was traded to Connecticut on April 14 for her second season in the league. Bone was an All-American for the Aggies in 2012-13, and was named MVP of the 2013 SEC Tournament. The Connecticut Sun begin their 2014 campaign by hosting New York at 6 p.m.
Carter begins her third WNBA season, but is on an opening night roster for the first time after signing with Indiana on May 9, having previously played for Connecticut and Chicago. Carter was a three-time all-conference selection while at Texas A&M, and was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2011 Dallas Regional in the NCAA Tournament. The Fever play at Chicago with game time slated for 7:30 p.m.
