RIGA, Latvia- Former Texas A&M All-Conference performer Sydney Carter and TTT Riga defeated Cesis 50-45 to win the Latvian Championship three games to two on Tuesday. Carter, who helped the Aggies to the 2011 National Title, led the team with 12 points and nine rebounds in the decisive fifth game.

Carter becomes the third former A&M student-athlete to win a title overseas this season, joining Kelsey Bone (EuroLeague Women, Galatasaray Odeabank) and Danielle Adams (Israel, Maccabi Ashdod).

Carter was a three-time All-Big 12 selection while at Texas A&M, and was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2011 Dallas Regional, which the Aggies won en route to the 2011 National Championship. Carter scored 1,176 points for the Aggies in her career, which ranks 13th on the A&M career charts.

Carter is also on the roster of the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA, along with former A&M teammate Kelsey Bone. The Sun's season starts May 16 against New York.
