COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men’s basketball program officially announced Friday the addition of Tonny Trocha-Morelos (pronounced Tony TRO-sha Mor-AY-los), a highly-recruited center and native of Colombia.
"I am excited to officially get Tonny into our program and have him start working out with the guys this summer," Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy said. "He will have an immediate impact to our program. He is a skilled big man who affects the game on both ends of the floor."
A long and athletic post, Trocha-Morelos made a good impression during the summer of 2012 when he played for the Colombian U18 Team at the FIBA Americas in Brazil, averaging 16 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest, both team-highs.
Additionally, Morelos played for Team Latin America at the 2012 ADIDAS Nations tournament where he led all players in blocked shots.
The 6-foot-10 center is a highly-prized prospect who received a four-star rating by Rivals.com and was recruited by Arizona, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oregon, Providence and UCLA, among others.
