Highlighting the honorees was sophomore guard Alex Caruso, who garnered the Most Outstanding Player award after developing into one of the SEC’s most dynamic performers during his second season in Aggieland.
The College Station, Texas, native led the conference in assists (170), assists per game (5.0) and total steals (69) while seeing his scoring average jump from 5.5 points per game last year as a rookie to 9.0 this season. Additionally, Caruso joined both the 250-Assist and 100-Steal Clubs during the 2013-14 campaign.
Junior guard Jordan Green was presented the Defensive Player of the Year Award as the Flower Mound, Texas, product started 27 games this season while stepping into a leadership role both on and off the court.
The Chris Walker Hustle Award was presented to senior guard Fabyon Harris, who played in 62 games while wearing the Maroon & White for two season following his transfer from the College of Southern Idaho.
After leading the Aggies in scoring at 13.4 points per contest during the season, including a 16.0 point-per-game clip during SEC games, junior guard Jamal Jones was named the Newcomer of the Year. The Wynne, Ark., native led the Aggies in scoring 18 times during the season, cracking the 20-point plateau eight times.
Junior forward Kourtney Roberson pulled down a team-best 230 boards this season to earn the team’s Top Rebounder Award for the second straight year. The Arcadia, La., native ranked seventh in the SEC in rebounding at 6.8 boards per game while notching five double-doubles during the 2013-14 campaign.
Roberson became just the 24th player to accumulate more than 500 rebounds during his playing days at A&M before ending the season with 620 career boards, which ranks 15th in program history.
Freshman guard/forward Davonte Fitzgerald was honored with the Unsung Hero Award. The Atlanta, Ga., native’s solid rookie campaign in Aggieland saw him play in 24 games, drawing four starts, and average 7.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest while compiling 17 blocked shots. He earned SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 20 after averaging 16.5 points per game during contests against South Carolina and Mississippi State.
The Daniels Scoates Garner Scholar Athlete Award was presented to redshirt freshman guard Kyle Dobbins while senior guard Blake McDonald was honored with the Strength and Conditioning Award for the second consecutive year.
Additionally, Alex Coleman was presented the Reed Rowdy Award and Alex Gieger earned the Aggie Angel Award.
