COLLEGE STATION, Texas—Texas A&M sophomore Shane Vinsant was named the Southeastern Conference’s men’s tennis Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The Keller, Texas native went undefeated this weekend in both singles and doubles against Ole Miss and Mississippi State, respectively. Both singles wins came against ranked opponents. Vinsant partnered with fellow sophomore Harrison Adams to win a pair of doubles matches over the weekend.
Vinsant is currently a perfect 8-0 in singles play in the conference, with all wins coming from the No. 2 slot and is tied for the team lead with 16 singles wins this spring. Additionally, Friday’s doubles’ win marked win No. 50 for the Vinsant and Adams duo.
The sophomore shares the honor with Florida senior Florent Diep, while Ole Miss’ Ricardo Jorge took home Freshman of the Week honors.
Vinsant and his teammates will be back in action this weekend in Nashville as they make a run for the SEC Tournament. The Aggies will face the winner of 7th-seeded South Carolina and 10th-seeded Alabama.
