COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M equestrian team placed two student-athletes on the 2014 All-SEC Team and three riders on the SEC All-Freshman Team, the conference office announced today.

Sophomore Logan Pluhar (Canyon) and junior Laura Sumrall (Summitt, Miss.) represent the Aggies on the All-SEC Team. This is the second straight all-conference honor for Sumrall, who was the only Aggie on the list last season. Pluhar was one of five freshmen on the 2013 SEC All-Freshman squad.

Pluhar led the Texas A&M horsemanship squad with a 72.85 score average and an 8-4 record on the year, including a 6-2 mark against league opponents. The sophomore also earned two Most Outstanding Player awards on the year. Sumrall was Texas A&M’s top reining rider for the second year running, and posted a 9-3 record on the season which is a team best across all four disciplines. The junior never lost two meets in-a-row, going on a four-meet winning streak in the fall and a five-meet run in the spring.

Earning the first conference honors of their careers were SEC All-Freshman Team honorees Sarah Kate Grider (Quitman), Rachel Lucht (College Station), and Kimmy Saul (Brookeville, Md.).

The teams were voted on by the league’s four head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. Five riders per event are selected for the All-SEC Team and SEC All-Freshman Team, and ties are not broken.
