BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC once again highlighted a Community Service Team for men's basketball for the 2013-14 season.
This marks the 16th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball as well as for women's basketball. All 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.

Volunteered at Youth Bridge, an organization that provides care to troubled teams and their families … volunteered at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital … assisted with the Razorback canned food drive … participated in the Fayetteville Boys and Girls Club backpack/school supplies giveaway … part of the Razorback basketball team’s involvement with the Make-A-Wish foundation … took part in the Champions for Kids walk … assists with the Special Olympics … serves as a mentor with Big Brothers and Big Sisters … participated in both Book Hogs and Read Across America, programs which encourage reading among local elementary school students … helped serve underprivileged children and their families at the Yvonne Richardson Center … four-year member of the Razorback Leadership Academy … volunteered at the Veteran’s Hospital on Valentine’s Day … participated in the Sweat Hawgs program, which encourages local students to exercise or play at least 30 minutes each day.

Will Yeguete – Florida | Sr. | F | 6-8 | 230 | Bordeaux, France
Yeguete is involved in a variety of community service activities, dedicating a majority of his time to volunteering with Goodwill Gators, UF’s student-athlete service organization ... Visits children at UF Health in the intensive care unit, the cancer area and others to brighten their spirits and get to know special individuals who are going through extremely tough times in their lives ... Forms meaningful relationships with the children and visits them on his own, on a regular basis as he has proved he is very generous with his time. Specifically, Yeguete has developed an unbreakable bond with a young boy named Kaden who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year ... Will and Kaden regularly spend time playing together as they hold a special place in each other’s hearts ... Also loves to speak to children at local elementary schools about making the right decisions, staying fit and being involved in and out of the classroom ... Along with teammate Patric Young regularly visit the schools and enjoy attending their physical education classes to teach them about basketball.

Andre has spent close to 50 hours this year contributing his time to the Baton Rouge community ... He participated in Move – In Day where he assisted incoming freshmen move into the dorms before the start of school, Boys II Men Breakfast where he was a mentor for elementary school male students encouraging them to work hard and achieve their dreams, Special Olympics, Halloween BOOzar-an event that provides local children with a safe and fun Halloween experience playing games, getting candy and autographs, and interacting with their favorite LSU student-athletes, retirement home holiday visit where he cheered up patients and sang carols with his team, and he also made a semester long commitment with the local Big Buddy program where he worked with the mentoring program for local youth.

Held basketball clinic for local Boy’s and Girl’s Club … Participated in ‘Move Mississippi’ to promote combat child obesity by educating youth and parents about the benefits of physical fitness and living a healthy lifestyle … Volunteered during the year at the Oxford Exchange Club Family Center … Participated in the ‘Reading with the Rebels’ program, where he visited local elementary schools to read to children.

Tyson was part of the development team that created the “Kids With “Character” Basketball Camp at Columbus High School ... He also works with ManHood Camp, which is designed for young boys to teach them how to grow up and be real men with character and standards ... He also created the Lace-Up Program, which is for middle school kids centered toward academics in the summer and exposing them to different educational opportunities as well as enrichment activities ... Edwards has been a huge part of the Tennessee basketball program's community outreach efforts since he became a Volunteer, and he has demonstrated an ability to make tremendous connections with children. This was evident during team visits to East Tennessee Children's Hospital, where Edwards and his teammates made children smile, laugh and temporarily forget their ailments … Edwards also has twice served as an on-court coach for participants at the annual "Hoops for Hope" basketball event in Knoxville that benefits the Down Syndrome Awareness Group of East Tennessee ... For each of the past two summers, he has led by example when the Vols spent the day building roof trusses and constructing and raising exterior walls of new homes for Knoxville Habitat for Humanity … 2014 Allstate NABC Good Works Team Nominee.
