Santa Ana, Calif. – The Texas A&M women’s golf team is ready for the 2014 UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia held at the Santa Ana Country Club in Santa Ana, California hosted by UC Irvine.
Hosted at the par 72, 5,842 yard Santa Ana Country Club, the individual champion will receive an exemption to the to the Kia Classic held on March 27-30, 2014 at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, Calif.
The 13 teams will begin with a shotgun start Monday morning at 10:30 am (CT) for 18 holes, with an additional 18 holes to be played Monday afternoon. The tournament will conclude with 18 holes Tuesday morning. A&M is paired with Idaho and UC Davis for Monday’s 36 holes.
“We do not know a lot about this course so we will have to take advantage of the practice round,” head coach Trelle McCombs said. “We know the course is an old-school type course and the individual champion getting that LPGA event exemption is a nice touch for the team to play for.”
The Aggies are back in action after placing fifth at last week’s Florida State match-up in Tallahassee, Florida. Senior Katerina Ruzickova paced the A&M attack shooting one under par and placing fifth individually.
“The team is pumped to get back on the course in a competition setting,” McCombs said. “They have done a great job this week getting ready putting in time at the driving range and on the putting green.”
Teams will begin teeing off at 10:30 am (CT), live scoring for the event can be found at golfstat.com
