BIRMINGHAM – Two Aggie sprinters received SEC Athlete of the Week honors today as selected by the conference office. Kamaria Brown earned the women’s Runner of the Week award while Shamier Little claimed the women’s Freshman of the Week award.

Updated national team computer rankings from USTFCCCA have both the Texas A&M men and women ranked No. 3. This was the first week in which the rankings reflected only marks from the 2014 season.

Arkansas remained No. 1 in the men’s national ranking followed by Florida, Texas A&M, Oregon and Wisconsin among the top five. Oregon moved into the No. 1 women’s position with Florida, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Texas comprising the top five.

In the final indoor dual meet rankings compiled by Track & Field News, the Aggie women remained No. 1 over Arkansas while the A&M men were No. 2 behind the Razorbacks.

Brown reclaimed her world-leading status in the 200 meters as her time of 22.80 defeated a field that included teammate Ashton Purvis (23.26) as well as Florida’s tandem of Kyra Jefferson (23.31) and Destinee Gause (23.40). Brown broke the meet record of 23.14 and equaled the Gilliam Indoor facility record.

Little posted the top 400 time in the SEC with a winning mark of 52.44. The time also made her the top freshman in the country with the No. 3 collegiate time in the nation. Little defeated a field that included Florida’s pair of Robin Reynolds (52.46) and Ebony Eutsey (53.01) along with teammate Olivia Ekpone (53.15).

Texas A&M’s next meet is the SEC Indoor Championship, which will be held on campus inside the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium starting Thursday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, March 1.

The SEC men’s field will feature the top three teams in the nation and a total of seven schools currently ranked among the top 25 while the SEC women’s field features five of the top seven ranked schools and has eight ranked teams among the top 25.
