Yates Honored as SEC Golfer of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — After tying for first place at the Sea Best Invitational during the Aggies’ first action of the spring semester, Texas A&M junior Greg Yates was named the SEC Men’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.

Yates, a native of Mansfield, Texas, (75-70-71=216) competed as an individual and shot even par at the two-day event held at prestigious TPC at Sawgrass to share the top spot on the leaderboard with North Florida’s Austin Padova. The win is the second career individual victory for Yates, with the first occurring his freshman year at the 2011 HBU Men’s Intercollegiate.

Yates along with his Texas A&M men’s golf teammates are be back in action Feb. 19-21 when the Aggies tee off at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawai’i.
