COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M sophomore outfielder Cali Lanphear was named to the Southeastern Conference’s Preseason All-Conference Team, the league office announced today.

Lanphear (pronounced Lan-FEER) was one of six sophomores on the team chosen by the conference’s coaches. The Coaches’ Preseason All-SEC Team consists of a minimum of 14 players.  Each SEC head softball coach voted for five infielders, four outfielders, three pitchers, one catcher and one utility/DP player. No ties were broken.

The Montgomery, Texas, native was also selected to the USA Softball Player of the Year Top 50 Watch list during the 2014 preseason. She earns a spot on the Preseason All-SEC Team for the first time in her career after being named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, and the NFCA All-America Second Team in 2013. The then-freshman led the team in batting average (.362), runs (48), RBI (58) and home runs (21).

Lanphear and the No. 11 Aggies open the 2014 season Friday at UC Santa Barbara’s Gaucho Classic I. To learn more about Texas A&M softball, log on to and follow @AggieSoftball on Twitter.
