COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian Associate Head Coach Linzy Woolf announced today the signing of Rachael Hake to a National Letter of Intent to compete with the Aggies’ hunter seat squad.
“We are looking forward to Rachael joining our hunter seat squad in the fall,” Woolf said. “We were really impressed with her style and ability to ride different horses after seeing her participate in our summer camp. Rachael is going to be a strong contributor to our team.”
Hake got her start on the Michigan Hunter Jumper Association (MHJA) circuit, winning numerous overall and class championships. In 2009, she qualified for her first Maclay Final and in 2010 she took second at the Open Junior Medal Final. Hake continued to excel in Medal and Maclay finals, winning Young Riders Medal Final Reserve Champion and again competing in the Maclay Final in 2011.
In 2012, Hake won the Grand Equitation Championship at the Metamora Hunt A Show and qualified for a third Maclay Final, as well as the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Pessoa Medal Finals. This year, the standout has qualified for Pessoa Medal Finals again, as well as earning a spot to compete at the Maclay Regional.
“I am so honored and thankful to start a new chapter of my life at Texas A&M,” Hake said. “The minute I saw the school and met the team was the minute I decided I wanted to go there. My favorite part about collegiate riding is the opportunity of riding many different horses, this is one of my all-time favorite things about riding in general. Every single horse is so different from one another and being able to learn how one goes is my greatest pleasure of riding. I can't wait to be a new member of the Aggie family and equestrian team.”
Hake will join the Aggies for the 2014-15 season, riding with the hunter seat squad. She is the Aggies’ fourth signee of the fall, joining Avery Ellis (western), Kristen Mohr (hunter seat) and Emily Davis (horsemanship) in the Aggie equestrian class of 2018.
