COLLEGE STATION- After a 67-48 opening-night win over North Texas, the Aggies open the home portion of their 2013-14 schedule taking on the other land-grant school in Texas, Prairie View A&M on Wednesday, November 13 at 7 p.m.
The Aggies (1-0, No. 16 AP, No. 12 Coaches) were led by dominant inside play in their first game, earning double-digit points from forwards Achiri Ade (14), Karla Gilbert (12), and Tavarsha Scott-Williams (10) as they rolled North Texas. Prairie View A&M (0-1) is coming off of a loss to Rice on opening night, but saw Jeanette Jackson drop 32 of the Lady Panthers' 63 points.
The Aggies have won 13 of their last 14 home openers, with the only slip-up in that span being a 63-58 setback to No. 9 Penn State in 2012. The Aggies have been dominant against unranked foes recently, going 24-2 in its last 26 games against unranked teams and handling the last 61 unranked non-conference foes to visit Reed Arena.
The night kicks off with the 2013 Texas A&M team receiving their SEC Tournament Championship rings, approximately 10 minutes prior to tip-off.
In the spirit of Veteran's Day, the game marks Military Appreciation Day at Reed Arena. Active Military & Veterans can receive two free tickets to Wednesday's game, and the Texas A&M Singing Cadets will perform the national anthem and during halftime. Texas A&M will be collecting holiday cards at all of the 12th Man Rewards Tables for US soldiers who are currently overseas during the game. Fans are encourage to include messages in the cards but to leave envelopes unsealed.
Wednesday's game is also the last contest Texas A&M plays at Reed Arena until Dec. 3 against San Diego State, with trips to Houston and the Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands on the docket prior to that game.
