Aggies Trounce the Tigers

COLUMBIA, Mo.—The No. 4 Texas A&M women’s swimming and diving team improved to 3-0 with a dual meet victory over the Missouri Tigers, Friday, at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

The Aggies won 14 of 16 possible events in the 159-118 victory. The women’s squad showed off its depth with 12 individuals wins by 11 different swimmers, along with dominating performances in both relays.

Senior Olympian Cammile Adams brought the Aggies 18 individual points with wins in the 200 fly (1:59.38) and the 400 IM (4:17.97). Adams also contributed to the 400 medley relay victory (55.35 fly; 3:43.45) bringing in an additional 11 points.

Among the other individual victories was senior Olympian Breeja Larson who took down the 100 breast in 1:00.05. Larson also assisted in the 400 medley relay with a breaststroke split of 1:00.92. Senior Melanie McClure hit the wall first in the 200 back in 2:00.72.  Junior Lili Ibañez grabbed a win in the 200 free (1:49.51), and junior Sammie Bosma easily took first in the 50 free (22.95).

More first place finishes came from sophomores Colleen Konetzke in the 1000 free (10:17.67), Claire Brandt in the 100 back (56.92), Meredith Oliver in the 100 free (51.09), and Ashley McGregor in the 200 breast (2:15.94). Finally, freshman Sycerika McMahon won the 500 free by over a body length (4:57.74) and freshman Madison Hudkins won the 3-meter dive with a score of 312.30. 

The Aggies started and finished the meet with relay wins.  The foursome of junior Kelli Benjamin, Larson, Adams, and Ibañez took first in the 400 medley relay in 3:43.45 to set the pace for the meet. To close, the squad of Benjamin, sophomore Katherine Huff, junior Emily Neubert, and senior Erica Dittmer won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:34. 36.

The Aggies will compete next when they host the Art Adamson Invitational Nov. 21-23 at the A&M Student Recreation Natatorium.
