COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M incoming freshman Sarah McEntire rode to two non-pro championships at the 2013 Virginia Reining Horse Association (VRHA) Derby.

McEntire (Four Oaks, N.C.) scored a 141.5 in the event, placing first in Non-Pro Level 1 and tying for first in Non-Pro Level 2. She joins the Aggies this fall as a member of Head Coach Tana McKay’s reining team.

“I was very honored to have been able to receive such an award,” McEntire said. “I was in a class with some of the top non-professionals on the East Coast who have been showing for 15 or 20-plus years each. It is always fun to show in the Non Pro because I show with other Non Pro competitors who began to be my role models when I was a youth rider.”

McEntire and the Texas A&M equestrian team report for the 2013-14 season this week, preparing for their first meet of the season – at Kansas State on Oct. 5 – after the annual Maroon & White Scrimmage on Sept. 20.
