TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 22 Texas A&M Women’s Golf team fell to tenth place after an eight-over round at the PING/ASU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies fell three spots on the day, shooting an eight-over 296 as a team and sit at seven-over (287-296=583) on the tournament, trailing tournament-leader No.2 Duke at 13-under (280-283). Following the Blue Devils are Alabama at four-under (284-284), Southern Cal (283-288) and Stanford (289-282) at five-under, Arizona (288-284) and Arizona State (291-281) at four-under, Texas at one-under (286-289), TCU at one-over (292-285), UCLA at five-over (279-302) and A&M to round out the top-ten. Following the Aggies are UC Davis at eight-over (287-297), Washington at 10-over (292-294), Southern Carolina at 14-over (291-299), UNLV at 31-over (305-302), Oregon at 34-over (313-302) and California (313-302) and Colorado (298-317) tied at 39-over to round out the field.

“Today we failed to put forward a complete team effort,” Head Coach Trelle McCombs said after the round. “We had a couple players go out and really battle today and some that did not. We need for all five to go out tomorrow and be fully committed to being tough and I think we will have a chance to climb up the board.”

Individually, senior Susy Grunden paces the maroon and white in a tie for 16th at one-under (68-75) following 36 holes of play. Junior Natalie Reeves shot the lowest round for A&M on the day at two-under and is currently tied for 30th at one-over (75-70). Senior Sarah Beth Davis (74-76) and junior Chelsea Mocio (70-80) are currently tied for 51st at six-over. Junior Katerina Ruzickova (84-75) is currently tied for 78th at 15-over.

“Susy had the difficult task of trying to follow up a great round with another one today,” McCombs added about Grunden’s day. “She was fine, but ran in to trouble a couple times.”

The Aggies will return to the course at 10:30 a.m. (CT) teeing off from hole 10, joined by UC Davis and Washington. Live scoring of the event can be found at GolfStat.com.
