Texas A&M’s 10-2 inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference continued to yield honors with a pair of Aggies being named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team on Wednesday.

Being named to the AFCA All-America squad were junior offensive tackle Luke Joeckel (Arlington, Texas) and junior defensive end Damontre Moore (Rowlett, Texas). Joeckel and Moore were two of eight SEC players on the elite squad.

Joeckel, who is a finalist for the Outland Trophy, has been the cornerstone of the one of the best offensive fronts in college football. With Joeckel leading the way, the Aggies lead the SEC in rushing, passing, scoring and total offense. Nationally, the Aggies ranked No. 3 in total offense with a 552.3 per game average and rank No. 4 in scoring with 44.8 points per game.

Moore flourished in his first season at defensive end after lining up as a linebacker as a freshman and sophomore. Moore is tied for No. 2 nationally with 12.5 quarterback sacks and tied for third with 20 tackles for loss. He leads the team in tackles with 80, and is on pace to become just the third defensive lineman to lead the Aggies in tackles in the last 40 years. Moore is the team leader in tackles, solo tackles, sacks, tackles for loss, QB hurries and blocked kicks.
