Sanchez-Quintanar Advances; Day 1 Results at UNC Invitational

Texas A&M's Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar advanced to the consolation quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA National Indoor Collegiate Championships today at the USTA-Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

The junior from Campo de Criptana, Spain, defeated Mary Anne Macfarlane of Alabama, 7-5, 6-3, in the first round to advance. Sanchez-Quintanar will face reigning Big 12 Player of the Year Petra Niedermayerova of Kansas State tomorrow at 10 a.m. (CT).

Other members of the Texas A&M squad are participating in the UNC Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill and Durham, N.C. Below are the results from today's action.
