Texas A&M seniors Ryan Tannehill and Tony Jerod-Eddie earned weekly honors on Monday after strong performances in the Aggies’ season-opening win over SMU.
The College Football Performance Awards gave Tannehill (Big Spring, Texas) honorable mention quarterback performer of the week honors, while Jerod-Eddie (DeSoto, Texas) received defensive line performer of the week honorable mention.
Tannehill and Jerod-Eddie were crucial in the 46-14 win over the Mustangs with Tannehill completing over 80 percent of his passes (21-of-26) for 246 yards and two touchdowns. Tannehill’s 80.8 completion percentage was the second-best in school history among quarterbacks with a minimum of 25 pass attempts.
Jerod-Eddie went into Sunday’s contest with two quarterback sacks in his previous three seasons at Texas A&M, but exploded for a career-high three sacks and also contributed two quarterback pressures and six total tackles. Jerod-Eddie’s effort led an eight-sack attack by the Wrecking Crew, which was the most by an A&M squad since 2002.
