COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M softball standout Cassie Tysarczyk (pronounced tie-SAR-check) has signed as a free agent with the USSSA Florida Pride of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), the team announced today.

“Cassie’s reputation on and off the field is what makes her the perfect fit for our team,” Pride General Manager Don DeDonatis said. “She will have the chance to learn from some of the best outfielders and left handed hitters in the game in order to prepare herself for what I hope is a long career in the Pride uniform.”

Tysarczyk joins fellow free agent Bre’jae Washington of the University of Texas, who signed today, as well as three other rookies that were drafted by the team in April on the Pride’s 2014 roster.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to play with and learn from the best of the best,” Tysarczyk said. “The USSSA Pride is an incredible opportunity, and I’m pumped to continue my playing career in Florida.”

The San Antonio, Texas, native finished her collegiate career last weekend at the NCAA Norman Regional. Over her four years with the Aggies, Tysarczyk earned two NFCA All-Region honors and was twice named to all-conference teams. This season she was named the Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Right Fielder after finishing regular-season play with eight outfield assists and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

At the plate this year, Tysarczyk ranked third on the team with a .366 average and sat at second among her peers with a .669 slugging percentage, 29 walks, 13 home runs and 11 doubles. Her five sacrifice flies tie for first among SEC hitters, and she also contributed three sacrifice bunts. The team captain was also perfect on the base paths, swiping four bags in as many attempts.

Tysarczyk graduated from Texas A&M in May of 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and is currently working on a master’s degree in sport management at her alma mater. She is expected to finish her graduate degree in May of 2015, and will work with the Aggie softball team during the 2015 season.

Tysarczyk and the reigning NPF Champions will begin the 2014 season on the road with four straight games vs. the Pennsylvania Rebellion, beginning May 30. Tysarczyk joins fellow Aggie Sharonda McDonald on the Pride, and will face classmate Nicole Morgan – the No. 17 overall pick in the 2014 NPF Draft – when the Pride and Rebellion compete.
