COLLEGE STATION, Texas—The Texas A&M women’s golf team will head to Tallahassee this weekend to compete in the second annual Florida State Match-Up.
Hosted at the par 72, 7,172 yard Southwood Golf Course, the tournament is unique in its format. The 12 teams will tee off in twosomes for the first two rounds and compete in threesomes in the final round. A&M will be paired with tournament host Florida State and will play in pairs for the first two rounds.
“The match-up is a great event that allows two teams to pair up as partners but still compete as individual teams,” head coach Trelle McCombs said. “This is a great way to get to know players from other teams. We have a completely different team from last year, one that can really make a huge impact on this course. Our partners in Florida State are very young as well and I'm really looking forward to seeing what these young teams can do together.”
The Aggies are back on the links after finishing their fall season tying for fifth at the Alamo Invitational Oct. 27-29 in San Antonio. Senior Katerina Ruzickova led the Aggies by shooting five under par and finishing in fourth place.
“Our senior leadership from Katerina is as solid as ever and I look for her to have a solid start to her final semester of competition,” McCombs said. “I'm pumped for Callie to be in the starting five. She worked so hard this off season to get her game in shape for the spring. This will be her first event suiting up for us and she looks great.”
Teams will begin teeing off at 7:30 am (CT). Live scoring for the event can be found at GolfStat.com.
