COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M equestrian signee Kristen Mohr won the Laura Pickett Memorial Young Riders Finals at the Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival last month at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, Md.
The future Texas A&M rider competed in a class of 27 entrants to win the two-round LPM Young Riders Finals – a major Medal Finals victory. Mohr scored a 90 in the first round and recorded a mark of 88 in the second round for the win, sitting seven points ahead of the second-place finisher. Mohr also took High Award honors, and her horse was named Best Equitation Horse.
The Laura Pickett Memorial Young Riders Final was named in honor of the late Laura Pickett, mother of 2012-13 Texas A&M Equestrian Team Captain Kori Pickett.
Mohr (Long Valley, N.J.) signed with the Aggies last month and will compete with the Texas A&M hunter seat squad beginning in the fall of 2014.
“I chose Texas A&M because of their dedication to the sport and their unmatched school spirit,” Mohr said. “It truly is an Aggie family and I felt right at home from day one. I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing school and team. I can't wait to get there and contribute to another national championship.”
