NORMAN, Okla. – Sparked by two individual top-10 finishes, the Texas A&M women’s golf team moved up three spots to finish ninth at the Fall Schooner Classic at the Belmar Golf Club Monday afternoon.

Senior Katerina Ruzickova (68-75-69) finished sixth to lead the A&M effort while fellow senior Natalie Reeves (75-73-68) tied for 10th.  Ruzickova notched her second top-10 finish of the fall season, while Reeves tallied her first.

“Kat and Natalie were solid for us throughout the week providing consistent senior leadership,” Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. “Early in the round Kat noticed something in Natalie’s putting stroke, she told me about it and I relayed it on to Natalie. From that point forward it seemed like Natalie made everything on the green. That is the type of teamwork we need moving forward this season.”

The Aggies (303-304-280) turned in the third best round of the final day at even par, trailing only team champion Oklahoma State (293-296-279) and sixth-place Denver (298-306-277). The maroon and white tallied 16 birdies on Monday, ranking as the third most of any team in the final round.

“We took to the first tee box with the mindset of not leaving anything out there and I think we accomplished that with the solid round we turned in,” McCombs said. “With the exception of two holes we played great this weekend. We led the field in birdies and par-5 scoring, so we must be doing something right. This tournament was another stepping stone for us.”

Following the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State on the leaderboard were Oklahoma (307-286-281), LSU (295-291-290), Arizona State (293-295-288) and Kentucky (300-296-283) to round out the top five. Completing the field were Denver, Kent State (298-303-282), Florida State (296-305-284), A&M, Pepperdine (309-293-287), TCU (301-303-287), SMU (306-302-287), Texas Tech (313-304-284), Georgia (311-308-284) and Texas State (303-298-303).

Filling out the A&M lineup were freshman Andrea Jonama (81-78-69, t48th), freshman Bianca Fabrizio (79-78-74, t57th) and senior Chelsea Mocio (82-79-75, t70th).

The Aggies will return to the links Oct. 27 at the UTSA Alamo Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
